Rosewood Modular Stereo Sideboard / Media Cabinet by Tord Kempe for ABRA Möbler, Sweden
A striking and highly functional modular stereo sideboard / media cabinet designed by Tord Kempe for ABRA MÖBLER, Sweden, circa 1960s.
Crafted in richly figured rosewood veneer, this substantial piece exemplifies Scandinavian modernism at its most practical and architectural. The cabinet is arranged in a modular configuration comprising two drop-front drawers to the upper section, generous open shelving beneath, and a dedicated vertical record storage bay to the right. To the left, an integrated open compartment provides additional flexibility, ideal for turntable or component storage.
The entire piece has been professionally French polished, revitalising the rosewood with a deep, luxurious sheen and beautifully enhancing the dramatic grain across all surfaces. Clean-lined and purposeful, this is as impressive from behind as it is from the front, making it suitable for open-plan living or as a statement room divider.
Equally at home as a hi-fi cabinet, media console or storage sideboard, this design offers a rare combination of sharp modernist form and everyday usability — a serious piece for collectors of Swedish mid-century design.
Dimensions: Width (closed): 151 cm / 59 inches
Max width (extended): 288 cm / 113 inches
Depth: 50 cm / 20 inches
Height: 62 cm / 24 inches
