John Mortensen Rosewood Extending Dining Table for Dyrlund, 1960s
A spectacular large rosewood dining table designed by John Mortensen for Dyrlund in the 1960s. This professionally restored table features Mortensen’s signature sculptural leg design and extends to seat up to 12 people with two leaves.
Many examples are misattributed to CJ Rosengaarden due to their name stamped on the metal table slides used for extending the table. However, CJ Rosengaarden was a company founded in 1923 that specialised in producing high-quality furniture fittings and metal components rather than designing tables. The design itself is undoubtedly by John Mortensen, whose distinctive leg details align with his other tables for Heltborg Møbler. Interestingly, the matching leaves bear a Dyrlund label, and Mortensen designed other pieces for Dyrlund, including desks, confirming the attribution. This table has had one owner before it came to us.
Dimensions:
Length: 189cm With One Leaf: 239cm With Both Leaves: 289cm
